The human spine is made up of 33 individual bones, held in place on top of one another by muscles, tendons and ligaments. There is no doubting that the spinal column is incredibly tough, but it also gets given some of the hardest jobs and it's always being used, which is why back ache is such a common complaint.
Understanding how the spine is put together and knowing what the inherent strengths and weaknesses of each region of it are can give you some much needed insight into how it works, whilst also highlighting just how much stress it is regularly subjected to on a day to day basis.
